Urban Bouquet

Music has an extraordinary power to stimulate our emotions and memories. As a universal human language, music has had the power to bring people together.
The site sits in close proximity to Commodore Barry park where some of the most iconic cultural and music festivals take place. AfroPunk and Soul Summit are a celebration of the alternative arts scene that has blossomed from the underground culture of the Brooklyn community.
However, as the park is being renovated to include family spaces and athletic courts, these kinds of events no longer have a place to occur. In addition to urban housing, this project seeks to provide multifunctional indoor/outdoor safe spaces with an open atrium to allow the Brooklyn community’s artists and musicians to practice, host events, and perform while sharing these spaces with the local residents of the existing building.
